The Recreation Director and Programmer are responsible for the planning, organizing and operation of the cultural, athletic and recreational activities in the City. They work in cooperation with other groups and individuals in carrying out these activities throughout the year.

Announcements

Nerf Battles

The gym will be turned into a battle field as teams work together to eliminate their opponent in fierce battles. Teams will be made up onsite with children present. Each child will be given 10 bullets to start, bullets can be collected as the battle continues. Each child must bring their own eye protection and nerf gun, any size (guns must shoot N Strike Elite bullets). This event will take place January 25th with the first group starting at 6:00 pm. 2019 Winter Warm Up

The St. Johns Parks & Recreation Department is teaming up with the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Playmakers Fitness Foundation to get you from sitting on the couch to completing a 5K. The Couch to 5K training program is free and open to all ages and abilities (parents must accompany their children). This 8 week training program will take place at St. Johns High School, and it involves attending two weekly one-hour sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting January 29th,  from 6:00 to 7:00 pm with certified Good Form Running and Walking coaches from the Playmakers Fitness Foundation. Winter Youth Programs

The City of St. Johns Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for our 2019 winter youth activities. This years activities include our Little Hoopsters Basketball program (Biddy Basketball), 3rd through 6th grade basketball clinic, and Kids Power Karate classes. *New* Adult Open Gym Pickleball

The City of St. Johns is excited to offer this new adult program this fall/winter. Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. This program will take place on Tuesday mornings starting the weeks of January 7th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and Thursday nights 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Wilson Center Gym. The cost to take part in this program is $4 per night or you can purchase an open gym pass for $20 good for 6 visits.

Adult Open Gym Volleyball

If you are looking to play volleyball in a fun, easy going environment then this is the place to be! This adult program takes place on Monday Nights starting January 7th from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Wilson Center Gym. The cost to take part in this program is $4 per night or you can purchase an open gym pass for $20 good for 6 visits.

Adult Open Gym Basketball

Open Gym basketball is a fun way to stay in shape and stay connected with the game of basketball. This program will take place on Wednesday nights starting January 9th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Wilson Center Gym. The cost to take part in this program is $4 per night or you can purchase an open gym pass for $20 good for 6 visits.
